Entries for Sanchez Art Center juried shows are submitted online using the CallforEntry.org platform.
Citizen Joy, a nationwide project, has programs taking place throughout the country, sharing about the positive aspects that each of us receive — but might not always take into account — of living in a democracy.
From the joy of having the USPS deliver you a handwritten letter or card, the respite of being out in nature in one of our beautiful parks, the recognition that each of us has choice and can marry who we love, all of us receive many things to celebrate and honor. What delights and brings you joy?
Sanchez Art Center, a Citizen Joy partner, invites all California artists age 18 and over to submit their work for a juried, in-gallery exhibition of art that celebrates democracy, by exploring these three themes and questions:
- What does your government do to bring you joy? (Gratitude)
- What choices are you able to make that are dear to your heart? (Agency)
- When do you feel in harmony with your fellow citizens? (Harmony)
Interested artists in all fine art disciplines will be able to submit work for Citizen Joy: A Celebration of Democracy via CallForEntry.org.
The deadline – that has been extended as Café is making platform updates on the initial close date -- for submissions is: Tuesday, October 29, 10:59 pm pdt.
Juror: Jeff Raz, founder, Citizen Joy, coordinating a nation-wide network of visual and performing artists with the aim of interpreting the themes of gratitude, agency and harmony through art.
Artists are also invited and encouraged to post on social media about their work and their creative process using #citizenjoy and #citizen joyful.
Citizen Joy is a national coalition of artists, arts organizations, and educators from all disciplines using art to cut through the doom and gloom about politics and energize people to do what they can to protect democratic rights and freedoms. |
