Ode to Joy, a celebration for the New Year is a group show by members of the Art Guild of Pacifica. The Guild's themed exhibitions are open to any artwork or interpretation on the theme, providing the opportunity for artists to share their own perspective, and for viewers to reflect on how they themselves experience it.

Coco Pan shares a lively yet serene landscape, The Lavender Coast in acrylic on paper mounted on wood board. Geraldine Y. Orozco, also working in acrylic (on canvas) presents Allowing, a dynamic piece bursting with possibility. An encaustic collage Under the Stars by Evangelina Miller invites the viewer to engage and be swept away with joyful abandon. An upcycled frame full of texture and color evocative of joyful play, is the subject of "Happy Party" an assemblage by Nancy Hall. An additional 40 artworks comprise the overall exhibition.

The Art Guild holds four themed exhibitions a year, plus an annual members' show. Small giftable works and cards are available to take away as purchased (cash and checks) from the AGP Shop when their members are exhibiting. During the current exhibitions the shop features an array of small paintings by Sheila Finch, ceramics by Susan Miller and jewelry by Jan Michaels.
Sanchez Art Center is located at 1220 Linda Mar Blvd in Pacifica, about a mile east of Highway 1. Following opening night, the galleries are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 1–5 pm, and by appointment, through Feb 9.
The opening, talks, and gallery visits are free as part of the Center's focus on "Creating Community through Art". |
