LocalVision
2008 is an annual
exhibition which originated in Santa Cruz in 1994. It
has been an opportunity for beginning students to exhibit
their artwork. The exhibition is comprised of black
and white photography, color, digital and Polaroid images.
Presented in this collection, one sees a variety of
viewpoints from the artist. One photographer captures
a tender moment with a beloved pet, another snaps a
shot of an awe inspiring landscape, or abstract view
of downtown or a blooming flower in one’s backyard.
All the work tells a grand story of individual experiences
in a collaborative exhibition. Students presenting are
from local communities along the Peninsula; Millbrae,
Burlingame, San Mateo, San Carlos, Redwood City and
Menlo Park. Curator Marty Springer currently works for
Park and Recreation Departments teaching students several
styles and mediums of photography, as well as developing
their talents and presenting their works in quality
exhibitions such as this one.
