For its annual Coastside
Invitational, Sanchez Art Center has invited seven art teachers
and their students to exhibit work in the East Wing Gallery. The
participating instructors include Rebecca Alex, who teaches at College
of San Mateo and has exhibited in juried shows at Sanchez Art Center;
Carissa Bowman, who teaches ceramics at El Camino High School in
South San Francisco; Robert Dvorak, a Sanchez Art Center studio
artist who has taught workshops at Sanchez Art Center and around
the globe; Sam Holmes, ceramics instructor at Jefferson High School,
Daly City; Shilo Ratner, who teaches drawing and painting at Sanchez
Art Center and the Pacific Art League in Palo Alto; Arthur Takayama,
photography teacher at Skyline College; and Halcyon Teed, who teaches
painting at the Pacifica Community Center.
In the Mary Harris
Room, Young at Art will showcase the work of young local
artists through age 13. This exhibit includes a component entitled
Sanchez Goes to School, displaying the work of students
from Sunset Ridge Elementary School, where Sanchez Art Center has
provided art instruction thanks to grants from Crescent Porter Hale;
Hitachi America Community Action Committee; the Hitachi Foundation;
and the Trapp Charitable Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Silicon
Valley Community Foundation. Thanks are also due to art teacher
Alexandra Ostroff.
