Also
opening March 4 is the Veterans Art Guild Exhibit in the
East Gallery. The exhibition is curated by Nava Attia-Benoit and
Ashley Leonard. This is a return engagement for the group, following
their previous well-received show here in 2014. An opening reception
will be held Friday, March 4, 7–9 pm, with music provided by Kathleen
and Henry Salvia of the Flying Salvias.
The Veterans Art Guild began at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs (VA), and has grown to include the SF Bay Area community and Northern California. Veteran artists make art at home, and gather together regularly at community sites and at the VA Health Care System to create imagery in a variety of media that expresses the range of human experience. Recent exhibitions for the Veterans Art Guild have been appreciated at Mamá Art Café and the Veterans Memorial Building in San Francisco, as well as regular events at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
Sanchez Art Center is located at 1220 Linda Mar Boulevard in Pacifica, about a mile east of Highway 1.
Following opening night, the galleries are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 1–5 pm, and by appointment, through April 3.
