This exhibition presents a variety
of interpretations on the theme of self-portraits by members of
the Art Guild of Pacifica. In a society of increasingly
fragmented influences on personal identity, including political,
economic, racial, and gender concerns, artists often explore the
idea of self image. Using a variety of materials and formats
including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and
sculpture, Art Guild of Pacifica artists deconstruct the
classical form of self-portraiture in surprising ways. |
